Questions, answered

What's inside the study portal?

The full Fast Track Study System — every practice question, every flashcard deck, full-length mock exams, narrated audio, Miles the AI tutor, and the entire study guide, every chapter readable and highlightable. The cheat sheet — the highest-yield facts as a PDF — is in the study portal on every pass, with instant access to download it. Every pass opens all of it; Standard carries the Money-Back Guarantee and SurePass the SurePass Guarantee.

What score do I need to pass?

Your state decides, not ETS. ETS scores 5025 on a 100-200 scale, and in its own words: "Passing scores are not set by ETS, and they vary by state." 156 is a common requirement among the states we could read on ETS's own state-requirements pages in October 2026, and at least one jurisdiction sets 152 — so look yours up before you book; ETS publishes it. What you do get is a verdict: your official score report shows your score beside your state's requirement and says whether you passed. The 80% our mocks are marked against is ours, not ETS's, and it is also the score that qualifies you for the guarantee.

How does the SurePass Guarantee work?

Standard and SurePass carry it. Score 80%+ on one full-length mock, sit the real exam, and if you don't pass we refund what you paid. On SurePass, clear two mocks with your readiness meter at "Getting close" or above and we also pay your full $130 retake fee. A refund also comes with free access to keep preparing — 90 more days on Standard, another year on SurePass. Starter carries no refund — don't pass, upload your score report, and we add 30 more days of access, free. Every free period is counted from the earliest date your exam allows a retake. You file the claim in your study portal with your official score report.

How many full-length mocks do I get?

Four scored full-length sittings, each a brand-new 120-question paper built to ETS's five content categories in the shares ETS prints — 30% Language and Literacy, 25% Mathematics, 14% Social Studies, 14% Science, 17% Health and Physical Education and the Creative and Performing Arts — and timed to the real 2 hours. Practice questions and timed practice are unlimited and never use one. Worth knowing what you are comparing that to. ETS sells two official 5025 practice forms at $24.95 each, and every registrant already gets Form 1 free; each is one fixed paper.

Is 5025 the test my state wants?

Check the code before you buy anything. ETS sells several early-childhood tests and only one of them is this: 5025 is Early Childhood Education, 120 questions in two hours. 5024 (Education of Young Children), 5026 (Early Childhood Assessment) and the newer 5533 and 5534 (Foundational Knowledge) are different tests with different blueprints, and some states already list 5534. ETS publishes what each state requires; buy for the code yours names. Everything here is built for 5025.

Which pass should I buy?

SurePass, for almost everyone: today it costs the same as Standard, it runs a full year, and it is the only pass that pays your retake fee if you don't pass (and adds another year free). Standard is a month of access with the Money-Back Guarantee — a refund plus 90 more days if you don't pass. Starter is one week of access with no refund — don't pass and you get 30 more days free.

What does the test cost, and what does a retake cost?

ETS charges $130 to sit 5025, plus a 3% online service fee when you register online. A retake is a fresh registration at the same price, at least 28 days after your previous test date. ETS's Free After 3 program makes further retakes free for five years once you have completed three attempts. Our SurePass Guarantee pays your full $130 retake fee on the resit you do pay for — nobody else on this test puts a dollar toward it.

Are the questions like the real test?

Close, and here is exactly how. Every item is a four-option selected-response question — the same format as all 30 of ETS's own 5025 samples — written to ETS's five content categories and weighted the way ETS weights them, with a reason given for every option, including why each wrong one is wrong. ETS says the test does not emphasize pedagogy, and neither does the bank: it tests the content a young learner meets. Our mocks run the real 2-hour clock with no calculator.

What about ETS's own practice materials?

Worth having, and worth knowing what each is. The 5025 Study Companion is a free PDF with the full outline and 30 sample questions. Registration includes one official practice form free, and ETS sells two forms at $24.95 each; it also resells a four-month Study.com course at $190. They come from the body that writes the test, which we cannot claim. None of them refunds you or pays toward the fee when you have to sit again. Prices move, so check before you buy.

What happens when my pass expires?

Your account stays and your work stays with it — notes, highlights and flashcard history are all there if you come back. The paid features stop. You can upgrade at any time and pick up exactly where you left off, and an upgrade always credits what you already paid.

My exam date moved. Does the plan adjust?

Yes. Change the date and the Game Plan rebuilds around the new one — it works backwards from your date, so a move forward compresses it and a move back spreads it out. Nothing is lost.

Can I use it on my phone, and does it work offline?

Yes to both. Add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app. Your due flashcards and a set of practice questions download automatically, and the whole study guide downloads too, narrated audio included — so a commute with no signal is still study time. Scored mocks and the tutor wait for a connection.

Do you offer refunds if I change my mind?

Yes, separately from the pass guarantee: 24 hours on Starter, 48 hours on Standard, or 72 hours on SurePass, measured from your purchase (or from your upgrade, if you upgraded) — no questions asked, as long as you haven't sat your exam yet. EEA and UK buyers also keep their 14-day statutory right. The SurePass Guarantee is the other promise — that one is about your exam result, not about changing your mind.

Why are SurePass guarantees limited?

Because we honor them. Every guarantee is a real financial commitment we may genuinely pay out, so a limited number opens for this exam each day. The allocation resets at midnight in your own time zone, and the counter shows how many of today's are still open.
