SurePass readiness

Questions, answered

What's inside the study portal?

The full Fast Track Study System — every practice question, every flashcard deck, full-length mock exams, narrated audio, Miles the AI tutor, and the entire study guide, every chapter readable and highlightable. The cheat sheet — the highest-yield facts as a PDF — is in the study portal on every pass, with instant access to download it. Every pass opens all of it; Standard carries the Money-Back Guarantee and SurePass the SurePass Guarantee.

How does the SurePass Guarantee work?

Standard and SurePass carry it. Score 80%+ on one full-length mock, sit the real exam, and if you don't pass we refund what you paid. On SurePass, clear two mocks with your readiness meter at "Getting close" or above and we also pay your full $119 retake fee. A refund also comes with free access to keep preparing — 90 more days on Standard, another year on SurePass. Starter carries no refund — don't pass, upload your score report, and we add 30 more days of access, free. Every free period is counted from the earliest date your exam allows a retake. You file the claim in your study portal with your official score report.

How many full-length mocks do I get?

Four scored full-length sittings, each a brand-new 150-question paper weighted to NCCT's four content categories and timed to the real three hours. Practice questions and timed practice are unlimited and never use one. The bank is 1,200 questions — eight full papers' worth against an allowance of four — so even after all four there are hundreds of questions you have not met yet.

Which pass should I buy?

SurePass, for almost everyone: today it costs the same as Standard, it runs a full year, and it is the only pass that pays your retake fee if you don't pass (and adds another year free). Standard is a month of access with the Money-Back Guarantee — a refund plus 90 more days if you don't pass. Starter is one week of access with no refund — don't pass and you get 30 more days free.

Am I eligible to sit the NCMA?

NCCT decides that, not us, and it publishes six routes in — current high-school student, current student, graduate within the last five years, one year of verifiable full-time experience under a certified or licensed provider, a military route on a DD214 or SMART transcript, and an instructor route. Most of them run through an NCCT-authorized program, and NCCT often proctors the exam at the school itself. Read NCCT's own eligibility criteria before you apply; requirements change and ours is not the page to trust for them.

What does the exam itself cost?

$119, paid to NCCT. Fail, and the next attempt is the full $119 again — NCCT prints that same figure on its own re-sit application, with no discount and no member rate. Two extras worth knowing before you budget: testing remotely adds NCCT's own $44, and a public test site may charge its own sitting fee that NCCT's price does not include. That is why SurePass covers your full $119 retake fee if you qualify and don't pass — the exam fee itself, paid back on your receipt.

What happens if I fail — how soon can I sit again?

The waits get longer each time, and they are NCCT's own: 30 days after a first failure, 30 more after a second, 90 after a third. After a fourth it changes character — you wait 180 days, appeal to the Director of Testing, and submit evidence of remediation dated after the failure, such as six months of current work in the field or a completed NCCT-approved program. NCCT states it is not authorized to waive those periods. So the attempt in front of you is worth preparing for as if it were the last cheap one.

What is on the exam?

150 questions in three hours, computer-based. Of those, 125 are scored and 25 are unscored pretest items. Four content categories, and NCCT publishes the split as item counts rather than percentages: Clinical Medical Procedures 72 of the 125, Law and Ethics 20, Pharmacology and General Medical Knowledge 18, Medical Administrative Duties 15. Inside the clinical category there are four parts — infection control and safety 15, patient intake and care 32, phlebotomy 15 and ECG 10 — which is why a quarter of the whole paper is drawing blood and running tracings. Our bank matches those counts category by category.

What score do I need to pass?

Not a percentage, and this is the thing to get right. NCCT reports a scaled score between 200 and 720, and every form's pass point is scaled to 575 — the conversion exists so a slightly harder form and a slightly easier one demand the same level of performance, which also means 575 does not translate into a share of questions answered correctly. Anyone converting it into a percentage for you is inventing the number. One more trap: if you fail, your report shows how you did in each content area as a percentage, and NCCT warns in its own words that a candidate "could achieve a high percentage in some content areas and still not pass the exam". Our mocks are scored against our own bar, and the score the guarantee is settled on is 80%+ on one full-length mock — our number, stated up front, never NCCT's.

What about NCCT's own practice exams and review system?

NCCT sells three, all built to the same detailed test plan, and they are worth knowing about. The Practice Exam is $24.95 for three attempts and shows you the correct answer on the ones you missed — its own page says rationales are not included. The Practice Exam PLUS is $39.95 for a single attempt with a rationale on every question and a per-category analysis. The Interactive Review System is $69.95 for two simulations at one attempt each, with rationales throughout, case scenarios and abbreviation flash cards; NCCT notes the two simulations can contain the same or nearly the same questions. All three expire a year after you open them, and NCCT states plainly that no review material, its own included, guarantees a passing score. They come from the body that writes the exam, which is worth something we cannot claim. They are also small, single-attempt and time-limited, which is a different job from the one this does.

What happens when my pass expires?

Your account stays; the paid features stop. Your notes, highlights and flashcard history are all still there if you come back, and SurePass runs a full year — and adds another year free if you don't pass.

Are the questions like the real exam?

Every item is written to the January 2024 detailed test plan, weighted to NCCT's own scored-item counts, with four options and a rationale on each. We also run an audit nobody else in this category runs — a reader who cannot see the question, only the options, measured against pure guessing — and we publish what it returns rather than only the flattering half. Here it is the best result we have taken: that reader scores 22.7% on this bank, BELOW the 25% a coin would give, and the same readers scored more than nine points higher on a bank we already sell. Our own instrument records that as a result to watch rather than a clean bill of health, and we would rather say so than claim otherwise. One honest difference to know: NCCT's scored paper is 115 four-option questions plus 10 alternative items such as drag-and-drop, multi-select and hotspot. Our bank carries 70 select-all-that-apply questions you can practise, and our scored mocks are all four-option. What we will not do is suggest these questions appear on the real exam — they do not, and no practice score can promise you a passing one.

Do you offer continuing education credit toward recertification?

No, and it matters more on this credential than on most: NCCT requires recertification every year, and that means a fee plus contact hours annually, with the credential only staying valid for five years if you keep up. NCCT runs its own continuing-education library and access comes with the recertification fee. We are a study system for the certification exam and we carry no continuing education at all — if the contact hours are what you need, that is NCCT's product, not ours.

My exam date moved. Does the plan adjust?

Yes. Change the date and the Game Plan rebuilds around the new one — it works backwards from your date, so a move forward compresses it and a move back spreads it out. Nothing is lost.

Can I use it on my phone, and does it work offline?

Yes to both. Add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app. Your due flashcards and a set of practice questions download automatically, so you can revise with no signal. The whole study guide downloads too, narrated audio included; scored mocks and the tutor still need a connection.

Do you offer refunds if I change my mind?

Yes, separately from the pass guarantee: 24 hours on Starter, 48 hours on Standard, or 72 hours on SurePass, measured from your purchase (or from your upgrade, if you upgraded) — no questions asked, as long as you haven't sat your exam yet. EEA and UK buyers also keep their 14-day statutory right. The SurePass Guarantee is the other promise — that one is about your exam result, not about changing your mind.

Why are SurePass guarantees limited?

Because we honor them. Every guarantee is a real financial commitment we may genuinely pay out, so a limited number opens for this exam each day. The allocation resets at midnight in your own time zone, and the counter shows how many of today's are still open.
